By Kids for Kids (BKFK) Contest & Literary Awards
We are shining a spotlight on the genius in our community. It acknowledges
the expression, creativity and spirit of our culture.
Category 1:
To acknowledge, raise awareness for literacy and advance children
who have a desire to write and publish their work, but lack resources.
The Author's Pen, LLC honors the brightest, young Black Authors with
a positive message specifically for youth. This is a for children ranging from
10 -14 years of age with a goal of helping them articulate a positive message,
support them in being leaders among their peers and create a platform as a
professional speaker and published author. Must live in U.S. and have parent
approval to apply.

Category 2:
To honor and advance children who self-published in 2017 and need funds to promote their work.
The Author's Pen, LLC honors the brightest, young Black Authors with a positive message specifically for youth. Must be 18 years of age or younger, reside in the U.S. and have parent approval to apply. Title must be a self-published ebook or print released in 2017.

Thank you for showing interest in the BKFK Contest & Literary Awards brought to you by The Author's Pen. Our goal is to acknowledge the unique talent in our community, raise awareness and advance our best and brightest, young African American Authors. It's our way of demonstrating, we see you and celebrate you!
The BKFK Contest & Literary Awards Judging committee will be comprised of an
appointed panel, which will select three winners in Contest (Category 1) and four recipients for Literary Awards. Each contest winner will receive a publishing contract with The Author's Pen (no cost to child to produce project). Each award recipient will receive: a check for $250, formal recognition during the 2018 My Message Matters Tour (also sponsored by The Author's Pen), Social Media announcement, and a BKFK Literary Award Seal to use for marketing purposes.
Submission Process may take 10-15 minutes. To prepare, have (1) signed release,
(2) parental consent, (3) manuscript for upload, and (4) contact information.
All uploads should be in PDF format.
Authors can submit books for consideration for the 2018 BKFK Contest & Literary Awards now through March 31, 2018.
Official awards will be presented during the My Message Matters Tour,
Summer of 2018. Authors will be notified of
BKFK Contest & Literary Award Committee's decision prior to Summer 2018.
The contest is free to authors who meet requirements outlined.
